You may see some rage-fueled drive-by comments from anonymous cowards who confuse cruelty for strength and anonymity for insight. They’re not here for dialogue. They’re here to perform. To provoke. To say “look at me” in the worst possible way — the way we’ve all become too familiar with over the last 8 years.
Please don’t engage. Don’t feed it. They thrive on attention and outrage — and nothing frustrates that mindset more than being ignored.
Thanks to everyone who’s shown up with humanity, perspective, and actual courage. The rest? Let 'em scream into the void.
Yesterday when In the middle of writing this post, Pete — being the emotional, rage-fueled meatsack that he is — let his personal fury get ahead of his clarity.
Specifically: I didn’t clearly say that Section 112209 has only passed the House. It still needs to pass the Senate before becoming law.
That omission made it sound like this dystopian disaster was already signed, sealed, and fascist-delivered. Mea culpa. That’s Civics 101, and I blew it. I got caught up in the very real fury of watching it clear its first big hurdle and let precision slip in the blast radius.
I've added an update to the original post this morning to clarify.
The threat is still real. The damage is still possible. And the Senate fight is still very much on.
So if you’re as mad (or terrified) as I was yesterday: don’t just nod along — call your Senators.
This is the moment when noise actually matters.
Thanks for reading. Thanks for calling me out. Thanks for keeping me (slightly) more accurate than the average doomscroll.
Yeah, Don. I know. It does feel that way right now.
But it’s not the people — not all of them. Most folks are just trying to live, care for their families, and hold onto something decent. And I’ve met some truly good ones along the way.
But a frightening number were willing to look the other way — or cheer this cruelty on — because it felt like power, or punishment, or patriotism.
And now here we are. My dad, and millions like him, on the edge of the fallout.
So yeah… I’m torn. I love this place. But I’m not blind to what it’s becoming — or how many helped it get there.
It's not a done deal. The bill now goes to the Senate. We have to let them know we hate this bill. Especially anyone with Republican senator(s), please call and urge them to vote no.
Absolutely. I was a bit pissed when it passed the house and fired that off without thinking it all the way through. I’ll add a note to the top of that post to point that out. You would that I would know better.. but meh. You know. Humans. lol.
Oh, but we live in the greatest country in the world my friend. It’s our situation right now. SOME MESMERIZED PEOPLE voted for this orange devil - this idiot. He has a record probably as long as the street/rural road you live on. A rapist, a fraud, ripped off a children’s charity,6/7 bankruptcies which included 2 casinos-HOW DO CASINOS GO BANKRUPT?? 94 counts -There’s so much I’m not sure, but I think they were all felonies! I will lay you odds that Treason was in there! If you look back ( you’re NORMAL) at rally videos of this idiot you’ll be scratching your head too! Anyone Normal, still is in shock he won- even though many of us Question That Result ( enter Elon musk ).
The Billionaire Welfare Act is also cutting Medicare. It is adding between 20-30 Trillion dollars to the deficit, which means that soon payments on the interest of the deficit will outpace spending on necessary services not yet axed. They will find money for the military, Trump’s birthday party, his refitted golden plane, and his 3+ million dollar golf games and- of course - for the courts to enforce the laws they approve of, but the rest of us will be reduced to serfs.
I retired from a career in nursing homes. The owners of the nursing home I worked at owned roughly 35 in the Los Angeles area and were big Trump supporters the first time around. 100% of the long term residents relied on medi-Cal (California’s Medicaid). My boss, upon learning I was a Hillary supporter, snapped at me “you know your check comes from the Republican owners!” Oh how the tides have turned. I’ll have to do some sleuthing and find out how they feel now!

What an ugly country you live in.

Thanks for saying the quiet truth out loud.
Let’s hope we can turn this boat around.

Didn’t use to be that way

Oh that would be great if you can get their opinion now.. post it here if you do
Paying $168,000 a year for a 92 year old to rot in a bed is awful. Asking other people to pay for it is even worse.
Your dad should die already. I wish COVID had got him, then maybe he couldn’t have voted to close my kids school.
The young do not owe the old what they haven’t earned (and no, your past SS taxes aren’t enough to make the system solvent, your thieves).
Any decent human being in your father’s place would off himself.
Welcome to Soylent Green, hummm that was kind of crunchy, wonder what it was
So, where will all these helpless people end up when they are put on the streets in December in the cold with no family?
What happens to cancer patients who are no longer covered for life saving treatments by Medicare or Medicaid?
What happens to Seniors who lose Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and can’t afford housing , housing, meds or food?
No meals on wheels?
No free school lunches for needy kids?
No EPA… No NOOA.
This is the Great die-off planned by a few wealthy people who are mentally ill who want the Great Apocalypse.
We have already seen the entire Republican House of Representatives vote for the Great Die-Off.
The Senate is the last bastion of hope.
If this bill is passed, we all face death in some form and a nation that helped others in the past burned in flames.
Contact your Senators and every Republican Senator and express the gravity of this situation.
Strike.
Picket the White House.
Be there when the Senate votes and picket and contact the International news as our National newscasters are looking the other way.
To paraphrase Frost, we have two roads to chose from.
One leads to death and destruction.
The clock is ticking.
